Lauren Carbajal joins LCCR as an Equal Justice Works Fellow sponsored by Equal Justice Works. Her project focuses on providing direct services to individuals harmed by police encounters, building partnerships with community-based organizations, and working with the movement to defund the police and reinvest in community-driven, nonviolent solutions.
Lauren graduated from UC Davis School of Law in May 2020. During law school, she was a member of the Civil Rights Clinic and Workers’ Rights Clinic. She also interned at the Contra Costa County Office of the Public Defender, and the Southern Poverty Law Center’s New Orleans office.
Prior to law school, Lauren worked with public high school and college students in New York City as an AmeriCorps teaching assistant and later as a college advisor. She graduated from Northwestern University in 2013, and is a proud alumna of the marching band. In her free time, Lauren enjoys singing, watching college football, and staying involved with UC Davis’ Moot Court program as a coach and judge.
