Originally from Santiago, Chile, Lorena earned her Master’s Degree in Journalism from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile where she also received her B.A. in Hispanic-American Linguistics and Literature. She worked as a professional editor, proofreader, and translator before immigrating to the U.S. where she discovered a passion for immigrant justice. Before joining LCCRSF, Lorena worked for Catholic Charities of the East Bay, where she served as a volunteer interpreter and translator, and later as a Legal Assistant and Immigration Counselor.
She lives in Berkeley alongside her husband, their two children, and their cat Bowie. She likes going on nature day trips with her family, cross stitching, and trying out natural wines.
