Marian Avila Breach joins the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights of San Francisco team after working as a volunteer translator and interpreter for the LCCRSF Immigrant Justice Program throughout the past two years. A Bay Area native, she explored her bicultural Mexican-American upbringing by living a couple of years in Mexico City, Mexico before returning to Northern California for the culmination of her undergraduate degrees. She graduated from University of California, Santa Cruz in 2020 with B.A. degrees in Politics and Philosophy. Post-graduation, she worked as a criminal defense investigator for the Public Defender’s Office of Santa Cruz County.

Presently, she continues her work in criminal justice as a volunteer tutor at Mt. Tamalpais College within San Quentin State Prison. In her free time, Marian enjoys reading literature, particularly global literature, and scoping out coastal towns for the best seaside cup of coffee.
