Meeting the Moment; Defending Democracy and Melting ICE.
For 50+ years, Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area (LCCRSF) has been fighting systems of oppression and racism to build a more just and equitable society. Leveraging our network of 1600+ pro bono volunteers, we conduct groundbreaking impact litigation, provide direct services to low-income and historically marginalized communities, and ensure access to free legal services for those most impacted by systemic racism and oppression.

Our racial justice work addresses the intertwined crises of poverty and policing as direct products of institutionalized racism. Through bold litigation, community education, and close collaboration with community organizations, we fight to end the criminalization of poverty by challenging unjust policing, mass incarceration, and the disproportionate financial punishments that strip wealth from marginalized communities.

We help close the economic wealth gap by providing free direct legal representation, advocacy and guidance, and legal education to low-income and marginalized small-business owners and entrepreneurs. A strong economy fuels our community and that without it, the inequities that result can last for generations.

We defend the civil and human rights of immigrants by representing thousands of asylum seekers and challenging unjust and discriminatory immigration policies. Through pro bono representation, education for legal practitioners, and strategic litigation, we protect immigrant communities and create systemic change.
