Working in three core priority areas—Racial Justice, Immigrant Justice, and Economic Justice—the Lawyers’ Committee strives to mitigate breaches of already established civil rights law and achieve “justice for all” through direct services, impact litigation and policy advocacy.
By leveraging the power of the private bar, the Lawyers’ Committee engages in impact litigation, policy advocacy, and direct legal services. Each year, the Lawyers’ Committee mobilizes over 1,000 pro bono attorneys who contribute almost 50,000 hours of free legal assistance—services valued close to $20 million.
Through partnerships with private law firms, the Lawyers’ Committee is able to assist clients in need of pro bono (free) services through our three main programs: Economic Justice / Legal Services for Entrepreneurs, Immigrant Justice / Asylum, and Racial Justice / Second Chance Legal Clinic.
