About the clinic
Our Walk-In Legal Clinic offers free limited legal advice and referrals to low-income community members in need. Since the 1980s, we’ve been committed to offering accessible legal support to San Francisco residents, ensuring that financial barriers never prevent individuals from receiving the help they deserve. We are relaunching our clinic in two new neighborhoods – the Mission and the Panhandle. Ensuring that anyone who walks through the door is provided with a supportive and welcoming environment where community members can receive guidance and address their legal concerns. Due to high demand, appointments are given on a first-come, first-served basis.
What we offer
- 1:1 Legal Advice: Clients will meet with a pro bono attorney to discuss their legal issue and receive personalized guidance during their appointment.
- Referrals: We also provide additional resources and referrals to organizations that can offer more specialized support.
- Next Steps: Following your consultation, the attorney will provide a clear plan outlining the next steps you should take in addressing your legal issue.
- Letter Assistance: In certain cases, we can assist with drafting letters for small claims, communication with landlords, or help with completing court forms.
What we cannot assist with
- Eviction Cases: Please note that we do not handle eviction, or eviction-related cases.
- No Representation: We do not represent clients in court or take on legal cases. Our support is limited to the legal service provided during the clinic appointment.
Location and Hours
Due to high demand, appointments are given on a first-come, first-served basis (space is limited). Sign-ups start at 3:30pm. Once you sign in, you’ll be assigned an appointment slot and are free to leave and return at your designated time. Please note clinics do not run on federal holidays.
