Immigrant Justice
Since 1983, LCCRSF has been on the frontline of the U.S. government’s war on immigrants, representing thousands of asylum seekers in immigration courts and challenging the unjust systems and policies that result in cruel and unfair immigration practices. Through our Asylum Program, we match asylum seekers with pro bono attorneys who represent them before the San Francisco Immigration Court.
The Immigrant Justice Program investigates and challenges civil rights violations against immigrants. Through strong ties with immigrant communities as well as practitioners, the Program is contacted when a systemic issue arises that unjustly affects immigrants and their communities. After a thorough investigation into the facts and the law, the Program files suits with broad-reaching implications to remedy the violations.
Asylum Seminars: Our Immigrant Justice program also includes biannual asylum seminars that provide a valuable opportunity for immigration law practitioners, pro bono attorneys, and our partners at non-profit organizations throughout the Bay Area and beyond to come together and learn the fundamentals of asylum law and procedure and to receive updates on current trends and developments in this complex and constantly changing area of law. California CLE credit is available for each session of the seminar, which is offered online and recorded for later viewing by those who are unable to attend the live event. All of the presenters are experts in their field, and generously offer their time and expertise to support our community’s advocacy on behalf of their clients. We believe that these seminars are important to our mission to ensure the due process rights of asylum seekers are protected, and that every client has the best chance of success.
