CALIFORNIA NOVEMBER 2022 ELECTION
ELECTION PROTECTION/VOTING RIGHTS
PRO BONO OPPORTUNITIES
Northern California/Central Valley

In November 2022, you can help protect the vote right here in California with the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area & Advancing Justice – Asian Law Caucus.

Pro Bono Volunteers Needed

Volunteer with the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area (LCCRSF) and Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Asian Law Caucus (ALC) this November to protect voters in California’s General Election. In the 2016, 2018, 2020 (and even the primary election in June 2022), hundreds of pro bono volunteers encountered and fixed issues that would have imperiled access to the ballot.

In addition to monitoring for voter harassment and disenfranchisement, access for voters with disabilities, and language support for limited-English speaking voters, observations recorded by pro bono volunteers have directly supported efforts to improve election administration practices, including passing the most expansive language access law in the country.

Be a part of LCCRSF & ALC’s long-running poll monitoring program and protect access to the polls — sign up here by October 10th

You need no experience and non-attorney volunteers are also welcome! Volunteers are fully trained and equipped with a variety of resources. Volunteers will fill out a checklist for each polling place visited and report problems through established procedures. Please note travel time can be substantial. We work with volunteers to make sure their polling place assignments and related travel will work for them.

*Please note that changing public health guidance means that volunteers will likely be indoors with unmasked voters and poll workers.
