Communications Coordinator

Yasmeen joined LCCRSF as Communications Coordinator in October 2023. Prior to joining LCCRSF she managed a successful reelection campaign for San Francisco Public Defender Mano Raju. In addition, she has made meaningful contributions to the nonprofit sector in communications and youth empowerment. During her time as a McCarthy Fellow at the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office Policy Unit, she channeled her commitment to criminal legal system reform and economic justice into innovative projects, including a social media toolkit for the rollout of the groundbreaking “Be the Jury” program. As a journalist with the COVID in Custody Project, Yasmeen led reporting on COVID-19 conditions within the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, amplifying the stories of incarcerated individuals during the pandemic.

Yasmeen is driven by her passion for community engagement and has dedicated herself to working on various local campaigns, immersing herself in the field to connect with and empower constituents. Raised by hard working immigrant parents, she embraces a passion for immigrant justice and the transformative power of the law. She holds a degree in Politics from the University of San Francisco, complemented by minors in Legal Studies and Peace and Justice Studies.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Yasmeen is a mom to two adorable cats, a passionate cook, and loves going on adventures with her partner.
